Replacement Outlets

Replacement 3-prong Outlets When replacing a 3-prong grounding-type outlet or plug, be sure to replace it with another grounding-type outlet or plug. It may be tempting to replace a worn or frayed 3-prong plug on an appliance or tool with a cheap two-prong plug from the local hardware store. But since the two-prong plug makes no allowance for connection of the grounding wire, the appliance will no longer have a grounding path. This now makes using the tool or appliance hazardous.
