ASHRAE Engineering Manual

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is the HVAC industry's technical organization.

In 1995 ASHRAE published the first edition of the Commercial/Institutional Ground-Source Heat Pump Engineering Manual.

This manual brings together current know-how and experience needed to design large, multi-zone commercial and institutional building ground-source heat pump systems.

This manual includes chapters on:

  • Site Survey Requirements,
  • Building Load Estimating,
  • System Selection,
  • Ground Heat Exchanger System Design and Installation,
  • Ground Water System Design and Installation,
  • Surface-Water System Design and Installation,
  • Heat Pump and Internal Distribution System Design, Installation, Startup and Commissioning, and
  • Energy Efficiency Considerations.
