Constructing a Barrier - Telephone

Most consumers don't think of protecting their phone system from damaging surges. Not surprisingly, telephones are one of the most commonly damaged devices in the home, especially answering machines. A plug-in surge suppressor should be used to protect the power and phone line inputs to the system. Protecting the power line and not the telephone line just won't provide adequate protection. It is best to use a device that contains both protection elements in a single package. This insures a common ground connection.
