Output Voltage Regulation

In general, the higher the transfer impedance, the worse the output voltage regulation. The high impedance isolation transformers have poor output regulation, while the low impedance designs have very good regulation.

Since electronic regulators have fairly low impedance, their output voltage regulation is also very good. Once, again, a tap switcher's performance depends on the design of the isolation transformer used. Ferros have poor output regulation because they have a high transfer impedance.
