Overcurrent Protection

The most fundamental requirement in any electrical system is proper overcurrent protection, for conductors as well as equipment. According to NEC definitions, overcurrent protection is provided "to open the circuit if the current reaches a value that will cause and excessive or dangerous temperature in conductors or conductor insulation."
