Wood Stove Efficiency
The efficiencies of wood and coal stoves and furnaces can vary greatly. While there are no standard tests for determining their efficiencies, experts say they are often about 50% efficient.
Although there are many different models of wood stoves on the market today, as a home heating fuel, wood is considered to be "inexpensive" (if you cut it yourself) but more work than "conventional" fuels. It is also considered a "pollution" concern by environmentalists.
